My favourite hobby started after a disappointing love affair and it has now become my best-liked pastime secondary only to my family. My first moped was a Puch Ranger 50ccm Offroad Styling - which has now again become a respectable machine from Austria after 25 years. I am lucky that I have the possibility to ride my KTM 990 Adventure for about 12,000 km - 15,000km per year. I ride it accompanying our guests mostly in the vicinity (Grimselpass to Mendelpass). It’s great if you have the chance to combine your hobby with your job. Occasionally, if friends like E … or P … or even the carnival musician from K …, make time we roar to places as far south as Sardinia, to the south of France or up to the far north (always strictly by the book  …daytime and nights).

And now we are even tempted by the great race courses like those of Brünn or Mugello where we may let off steam for a weekend.

That brings back the old DUC 748 R from the deepest cellar. I can really recommend it - riding your bike on a race track under guidance gives you a sharpened insight and teaches you what is physically possible. These training-sessions on a race course have been useful for me several times in challenging situations on the road (situations like swerving quickly, extreme braking manoeuvres and sudden turns in which most people might only be able to stop dead in panic)

In 2008 a new era began when I exchanged the Ducati 748 R for a Ducati 1100 Hypermotard - real fun for a short trip.
